Who is Jenn Alcorn?
I am a lifelong Marylander, proud to call Frederick County home since the age of 10. I often say with gratitude that I was raised by Frederick County. Growing up with a parent facing severe and often untreated mental illness, it was the strength of this community — its neighborhoods, schools, and caring people — that gave me stability and support when life at home was uncertain.
This community gave me the chance to build a better future — one that grew from childhood challenges into a 23-year career in the hospitality and healthcare industries, and into building a loving family with my husband, a dedicated Frederick City Police officer. Together, we easily decided to raise our three children here, all of whom attend(ed) FCPS, and continue to be a part of the Frederick County community.
In 2021, my life changed forever when I became a widow after my husband’s line-of-duty passing from occupational cardiovascular disease. That loss reshaped my journey, but it also strengthened my resolve. Since then, I have devoted myself to advocating for and helping surviving families of fallen first responders, both locally and across the nation, ensuring they receive the benefits, recognition, and support they deserve.
My nearly 20 years of volunteer service across Frederick County have given me a front-row seat to both the challenges and the strengths of our wonderful community. Frederick County is more than where I live — it is the place that made me who I am. My lived experience — as a mother, widow, professional, and advocate — fuels my commitment to making sure every family has the opportunity to thrive, no matter their circumstances.
